Last year: Edina edged Roseville Area by just two strokes (638-640) to win the team championship. Blaine seventh-grader Kathryn Van Arragon was the meet medalist, with a two-round total of 143, good for a three-shot win over runners-up Molly Stevens of Northfield and Aayushi Sarkar of Woodbury. Rochester Mayo’s Erin O’Hara finished 36th.

Qualified teams: Lakeville North, Chanhassen, Simley, Stillwater Area, Roseville Area, Edina, Forest Lake, Brainerd.

Area individual (Day 1 tee times): Maren Aikens, So., Rochester John Marshall, 1:03 p.m. (Tee No. 1)

Noteworthy: In addition to Aikens, two other golfers from the Big Nine Conference qualified for state – Molly Stevens and Sylvia Koenig of Northfield. … Aikens is appearing in her first state meet. She finished fifth at the Section 1 meet. … Aikens is the first JM girls golfer to reach the state meet since Katie Johnson in 2011. … Van Arragon, the defending state medalist, is just an eighth-grader. She tees off at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

BOYS

Last year: Maple Grove won the team championship (593) by seven shots over St. Thomas Academy and Alexandria. Wayzata senior Tristan Nelko was the meet medalist with a two-round score of 139, good for a four-stroke victory over runners-up Trey Fessler of St. Michael-Albertville and Walker Reyes of Mankato East.

Qualified teams: Lakeville South, Waconia, St. Thomas Academy, Stillwater, Maple Grove, Edina, Elk River, Alexandria Area.

Area individual (Day 1 tee times): Layke Moger, Sr., Rochester Mayo, 8:24 a.m. (Tee No. 1);

Noteworthy: Moger is one of five golfers from the Big Nine Conference who qualified for state. The others are Leo Gellert (Mankato West), Matt Turner (Winona), Nate Stevens (Northfield), Owen Bjork (Mankato West). Gellert and Moger are in the same foursome Tuesday morning. … Moger finished eighth at the Section 1AAA meet and won a playoff on the first hole to earn the final state-meet berth from the section.
