The top matchups, highlights and performances from southeastern Minnesota high school sports on Tuesday:

SEASONS END

• Northfield scored 17 minutes into the first half on a penalty kick and went on to beat Rochester Century 3-1 in the Section 1AA boys soccer quarterfinals. Century finished 7-9-1 overall

• The Rochester Century girls soccer team had been one of the hottest ones around, diving into the Section 1AA playoffs on an eight-game winning streak. That streak ended along with its season as No. 6-seed New Prague upset the third-seeded Panthers 1-0 in the section quarterfinals.

SWEEP FOR CENTURY CC

• The Rochester Century boys cross country team had all five of its scoring runners place in the top 10 as the Panthers won the All-City Invitational for a second consecutive year. Seth Hill (second place, 17:04.3), Jason Dong (sixth), Carter Poncelet (seventh), Silas Green (ninth) and Eric Welch (10th) helped Century win the boys title by 14 points over runner-up Mayo. John Marshall's Meti Omod won the meet in a blistering time of 16:46.5. Lance Pfrimmer (third) and William Roden (fourth) led Mayo, while Kevin Turlington (fifth) was Lourdes' top finisher.

• The Rochester Century girls cross country team also won the All-City Invitational for a second straight year, placing its five scoring runners in the top 11. Kennedy Speer (second, 20:01.4) and Ava Nuttall (third, 20:07.9) led the Panthers, while Morgan Morey finished sixth, Gracie Shannon eighth and Kylie Wees 11th. Lourdes' Lauryn Renier won the race by more than 15 seconds (19:45.1) and her teammate Meg Degen finished fifth. Arely Jaime-Luevano led Mayo by finishing fourth (20:33.3) and Greta Freed paced JM with a seventh-place finish (21:05.8).

MILESTONES

• Stewartville senior hitter Kaitlyn Prondzinski recorded her 1,000th career kill on match point to lift the No. 1-ranked Tigers to a 3-0 victory against No. 3-ranked Kasson-Mantorville. Prondzinski is committed to play Division I college volleyball next year at Illinois State University.

Riley Queensland 15 kills and 11 digs in Grand Meadow’s 3-0 win over Schaeffer Academy. Queensland recorded her 1,000th career kill in the victory, which helped the Superlarks improve to 19-10 overall.

• Cannon Falls setter Jaci Winchell recorded her 1,000th career set assist in Tuesday's match against Hayfield. Winchell and the Bombers topped the Vikings 3-1.

BEST PERFORMANCES

• Red Wing’s Cadence Thorson got the game’s only goal as No. 12 seed Red Wing beat No. 13 seed Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa 1-0 in girls Section 1A playoff soccer.

Ebube Mordi had two goals and David Choung had two assists as No. 9 seed Schaeffer Academy beat No. 16 seed Kasson-Mantorville 5-0 in the first round of the Section 1A boys soccer playoffs on Tuesday.

• Mia Pierra scored all four of St. Charles’ goal is in 4-0 win over Schaeffer Academy in the first round of the Section 1A soccer playoffs.

Alayna Helgemoe had 32 digs and Isabelle Kahoun had 25 assists and 15 digs in Rushford-Peterson’s 3-2 win over St. Charles. Ashley Paul had 38 assists and 21 digs for the Saints and Triniti Gbala had 16 kills.

• Red Wing’s Cecelia DeJong won a pair of events in her team’s 93-84 loss to Century. DeJong claimed the 50 freestyle (25.41) and the 100 fly (58.65).
