Rochester Lourdes has lofty goals this season, and a lofty ranking to go along with them.
The Eagles girls hockey team backed up those goals and expectations in its season opener on Friday, rolling to an 11-0 victory against Red Wing at Graham Arena.
No. 3-ranked Lourdes led 2-0 after one period, then erupted for six goals in the second period.
Lourdes, the defending Section 1A champion, outshot the Wingers 49-9.
Senior center Sarah Dravis had the hot hands Friday. She scored four goals, including the game winner 6:24 into the game. She added three more in the second period.
Defenseman Maggie Hanzel scored twice and had one assist, while Delaney Fleming, Carmen Erickson, Emma Schmitz, Abby Wick and Isabelle Heim scored once each.
Defenseman Allison Smith added two assists, as did seventh-grader Sawyer Fleming, sophomore Lizzie Pike and senior Kylie VerNess.
Eagles goalie Corrine Hanson recorded a nine-save shutout. Leigha Kitzmmann made 38 saves for the Wingers.
Lourdes hosts New Ulm at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Graham Arena. Red Wing hosts Faribault at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
