VICTORIA — Carson Arthur stopped every shot thrown his way and Teejay Torgrimson scored twice to help Rochester John Marshall earn its first boys hockey win of the season, 3-0 against Southwest Christian/Richfield on Saturday.

Arthur made 25 saves for the Rockets, who improved to 1-1-0 overall with the win.

Torgrimson scored once in the second period and once in the third, while Sam Eagen scored in between to account for the third JM goal.

Arthur stopped nine shots in each of the first two periods and kept the Stars at bay until Eagen and Torgrimson provided some cushion in the third.

Moritz Thiemann and Mitch Anderson both had an assist for JM, which opens Big Nine Conference play against Faribault on Thursday at the Rochester Recreation Center at 7:15 p.m.

LOURDES SHUT OUT BY HUTCHINSON

Griffin Becher stood tall in goal on Saturday, but Hutchinson threw 55 shots at the Rochester Lourdes goalie in a 7-0 boys hockey victory against the Eagles at Graham Arena.

Becher made 48 saves as Lourdes dropped to 0-2-0 overall.

Becher made 19 saves in the first period to keep the game scoreless, but Hutchinson broke it open with six goals in the second period.

Tigers senior forward Austin Jozwick was difficult to stop; he had a natural hat trick, scoring four consecutive goals in the second period, in a span of 8 minutes, 22 seconds.

Hayden Jensen, Nik Johnson and Cam Longie also scored for Hutchinson (3-1-0).

Lourdes has a full week of practice before hosting Mound Westonka at 3 p.m. Saturday at Graham Arena I.

LAMB SCORES SIX TIMES IN DODGE COUNTY WIN

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS — Dodge County sophomore Brody Lamb had his breakout high school hockey game in just his third varsity game.

Lamb scored the first four goals of the game, and finished the night with a whopping six goals, as the Wildcats beat defending Section 1A champion Minnesota River 7-5 on the final day of the Turkey Trot tournament, hosted by Simley.

Lamb scored three goals in the first period, one in the second and two in a wild third period that saw Minnesota River score five times as it battled back from down 4-0.

Cade Spreiter also scored for the Wildcats (1-2-0), who earned their first win of the season.

WINGERS HIT DOUBLE DIGITS AT AUSTIN

AUSTIN — Gavin Lampe (four goals, two assists) and Taite Luhman (one goal, five assists) each had a six-point game as Red Wing rolled to a 15-3 Big Nine Conference boys hockey victory at Riverside Arena on Saturday.

Isaac French (two goals, three assists), Josh Rikli (two goals, two assists) and Matt Ramstad (two goals, two assists) also had big games for the Wingers.

Garett Schaefer had all three of Austin's goals.

La CRESCENT BATTLES TO TIE

ONALASKA, Wis. — La Crescent-Hokah battled to a 3-3 tie against its border rival, La Crosse (Wis.) Aquinas/Holmen on Saturday. Neither team held more than a one-goal lead throughout.

Owen Johnson and Ashur Rouleau answered Avalanche goals in the first and second periods to tie the score 2-2. Rouleau's goal was a short-handed tally. Reid Haffner scored 11:18 into the third to give the Lancers their first lead, but Brennen Dirks answered for the Avalanche three minutes later to force overtime.

La Crescent-Hokah hosts Black River Falls at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
