Rochester Mayo earned a hard-fought 3-0 non-conference boys soccer victory Saturday against New Prague at Mayo Stadium.

The matchup of Section 1AA rivals saw Mayo take a 2-0 lead in the first half and add another goal in the second half to seal the victory.

Mayo's first-half goal both came in the opening 15 minutes, the first when senior striker Daliso Chitulangoma converted a through ball from junior midfielder Kyle Doppler. Just minutes later, Daliso gave a through ball to senior captain Jonathan Wright, who drove the ball low past the New Prague keeper.

Mayo made it 3-0 in the second half on a free kick from about 30 yards by senior captain Kellen Claton.

Mayo (4-3-0 overall, 2-1-0 Big Nine Conference) host Austin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

HOPKINS — Rochester Lourdes received a big day from goalkeeper Jaxon Hopkins (eight saves), but the Eagles came up shy against No. 1-ranked Blake in a 4-0 non-conference boys soccer loss Saturday.

Blake turned a pair of turnovers into goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Lourdes had a goal disallowed late in the first half due to a goalkeeper interference call. Then, early in the second half, Blake was awarded a PK that it converted for a 3-0 lead.

"I was very proud of the effort the guys put up as we are short handed now with leading scorer Austin Loeslie out with an injury and a number of players dealing with an illness," Lourdes coach Tom Kane said. "Blake is as good as any team in Class A or AA and this was their closet match so far this season."

Kane said Lourdes adjusted its lineup due to the injuries and illnesses, but it played well. He said Matt Steinmetz had a great day in the center back role and Hopkins was solid in goal with eight saves.

Lourdes (3-2) hosts Benilde St. Margaret's at 7 p.m. Monday at Rochester Regional Stadium.
