NEW PRAGUE ENDS CENTURY'S SEASON
The Century girls soccer team had been one of the hottest ones around, diving into the Section 1AA playoffs on an eight-game winning streak.
That streak was snapped Tuesday night and with it the Panthers' season has ended. It was No. 6 seed New Prague that scored the upset, beating Century 1-0 in the Section 1AA quarterfinals.
“Century had its chances but just could not find a way to get the ball into the back of the net,” Century coach Karen LaDue said. “The New Prague keeper played well, their defense played well. We came close so many times but it wasn't enough.”
New Prague got the game’s only goal in the second half. Panthers goalie Kate Kopp had six saves, while the Trojans’ keeper had eight.
Century finished 10-6-1 overall.
