Lourdes vs. Annandale Class AA Quarterfinal

What happened: Trailing 3-2 in the Class AA state quarterfinal game, Lourdes scored six times in the bottom of the fifth for an 8-3 lead and then survived a three-run rally by Annandale in the top of the seventh.

What it means: Lourdes, the No. 2 seed, advances to the state semifinals at 5 p.m. Thursday to take on No. 3 seed Pipestone.

Records: Lourdes improves to 23-3; Annandale drops to 17-9.


* Senior Linda O'Connell got the offense going for Lourdes with a two-run homer in the bottom of the third to tie the score at 2-2.

* Freshman Elizabeth Pike had two hits in Lourdes' six-run fifth inning to put the Eagles up 8-3. She started the inning with a single and scored and then ended it with an RBI single to plate the Eagles' final run of the inning.
* Ashley Krom snapped a 3-3 tie with a two-run single with two outs in the fifth. The Eagles added three more runs in the inning.
