CLASS AA TRACK AND FIELD

What happened: Saturday, in a day that was reserved for finals in the Class A meet at Hamline University in St. Paul, Lourdes' CJ Adamson freshman had a massive impact. Adamson finished second in the 200, third in the 100 and ran the anchor leg on Lourdes' winning 4x100 relay team. Adamson had just enough at the end to nip familiar foe Byron at the finish line.

Ping and Ping: While Cotter's Lauren Ping finished first and sister Grace Ping second in the 3,200 on Friday, their roles were reversed on Saturday. Sophomore Grace was the 1,600 winner and eighth-grader Lauren was second.

Super sophomore: Plainview-Elgin-Millville sophomore Kyler Bade was the champion in the 400. He finished in 50.15. Bade has come a long ways. He didn't even finish near the top of the 400 heap in the Section 1A meet last year.

Graham finishes second: Triton senior Nell Graham had hopes of winning the 400 this year. That didn't happen, though she ran well. Graham was timed in 57.34. Blake star Robbie Grace was first in 56.31.

Heitman second, third: Lake City star jumper Ethan Heitman finished up his career with a third place in the high jump (6-feet-5) and a third in the long jump (21-11 1/4). Pine Island's Josh Navratil was fourth in the high jump, Lewiston-Altura's Marcus Weaver and Evan Daley fifth and sixth, and St. Charles' Dalton Balcome eighth. The winner in the high jump was Mounds Park Academy's Yahya Madar, sailing a meet-record 6-feet-10.

GMLOKS does it again: The GMLOKS 4x200 relay team won that event for the second straight year. It was timed in 1:44.47, edging runner-up Mesabi East (1:44.73). Stewartville was fourth.
