GIRLS BASKETBALL

• Rochester John Marshall landed four players in double figures and beat rival Rochester Mayo 61-60 in a showdown of quality Rochester teams. Lilly Meister had 17 points, Tori Gateno 12, and Alexa Motley and Katie Hurt had 10 apiece. Nancy Soro paced the Spartans with 17 points.

Alyssa Ustby scored 28 points and the No. 1-ranked Lourdes girls basketball team held off No. 9 Waseca 64-59 at Lourdes.

• Century built a 28-21 halftime lead and got its first win, beating Winona 67-54. Kjerstin Ritz hit three of her four 3-pointers in the first half and finished the game with 19 points. Sophia Sahlin had 10 points, Kennedy Speer nine and Jordyn Sutton eight.

Emma Geiwitz had 16 points and hit four 3-pointers in Houston's 53-21 win over Lanesboro.

Aby Shubert paced Kasson-Mantorville with 29 points in the KoMets’ 64-44 win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa. The KoMets held Cougars star Ali Hunstad to seven points..

• Fillmore Central held Rushford-Peterson to 11-first half points and went on to a one-sided 55-19 win. Kandace Sikkink had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Falcons.

Lindsey Root scored 23 points and hit four 3-pointers in St. Charles' 53-41 win over Chatfield. Emilee Buringa added 18 points.

Isabelle Olson had a huge impact overall with 19 points, 11 rebounds in Grand Meadow's 67-23 win over LeRoy-Ostrander. She also hit three 3-pointers. Riley Queensland led all scorers with 21 points.

Haley Jennings poured in 25 points and Caledonia beat La Crescent 54-42.

Amelia Solum had 17 points in Spring Grove's 47-38 loss to Decorah, Iowa. 

• Goodhue overcame fouls trouble and beat Pine Island 69-51. Arianna Thomforde scored 16 points and Elissa Lodermeier had 15 points and six rebounds. Joslyn Carlson added 11 rebounds for the Wildcats.

• Cotter’s defense was all over Lewiston-Altura as the Ramblers held the Cardinals to five first-half points and won 68-28. 

• Blooming Prairie jumped out to a 16-0 lead and never looked back en route to blasting Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 64-23. Bobbie Bruns led the Blossoms with 18 points and six rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Will Tschetter made 16 of 24 shots and pumped in 43 points in Stewartville's 88-68 loss to Waseca.

Jack Fisher scored 23 points in Century's 81-72 loss to Lakeville North. Connor Tweed added 14 points for Century and Mark Leonard chipped in with 12.

Nate Heise poured in 28 points, had at least four dunks and grabbed seven rebounds as Lake City waltzed past Red Wing 72-49 in non-conference action. Reid Gastner had nine points and nine rebounds for the Tigers.

Haevan Quimby scored 21 and Braxton Munnikhuysen added 17 as Triton toppled Chatfield 77-57. Reid Johnson poured in 33 points and hit five 3-pointers for Chatfield.

• Kenyon-Wanamingo got its season off to a winning start, beating Bethlehem Academy 60-54 as Tate Erlandson had 20 points, including hitting a pair of 3-pointers. Casey Wesbur added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Blake Herber scored 15 points as Plainview-Elgin-Millville nipped Byron 47-45.

• LeRoy-Ostrander sophomore forward Tanner Olson had 16 points and 25 rebounds, but Grand Meadow was the winner between the teams, 62-54. Ethan Lane had 16 points for the Superlarks and Ethan Gilbert and Ben Kraft had 14 apiece.

Zach Haugerud scored 24 points and Haidyn Gunderson added 23 as Fillmore Central rolled past Winona Cotter 94-56.

Thomas Menk had 20 points and Gunner Reed added 19 as Lewiston-Altura nipped Pine Island 77-75. Carter O'Reilly had a game-high 29 points for Pine Island.

Nic Sanger scored 14 points as Schaeffer Academy toppled Mabel-Canton 50-25 in Southeast Conference play.

• Houston beat Lanesboro 68-49 as Caiden Danielson had 19 points and Mikkel Schutte, Braden Kennedy and Noah Kingsley combined for 39 more.

Rhett Schaefer scored 18 points as Cannon Falls slipped past Brooklyn Center 67-63.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Greta Freed recorded a hat trick and Anysia Heimer made 25 saves as Rochester John Marshall earned a 5-2 Big Nine Conference victory against rival Rochester Mayo. Emmy Mueller also scored for JM, and Ashley Koehler had a goal and two assists. Luella Bianco and Devynn Priest scored for Mayo.

Jordyn McCormack had a hat trick and Kyia Radford Garcia made 26 saves as Austin knocked off Mankato West 4-3 at Mankato. A.J. Barrera also scored for the Packers.

BOYS HOCKEY

• Thirteen Dodge County players had at least one point as the Wildcats rolled past Austin 11-2. Brendon Wolesky and Isaac Rogne had two goals and two assists each for the Wildcats.

Wyatt Farrell scored twice and Ryan Booth made 43 saves to help La Crescent-Hokah rally from a 3-0 deficit to earn a 5-3 win against Black River Falls on Tuesday. Reid Hafner, Owen Davison and Wyatt Farrell also scored for the Lancers.

Alex Benson made 53 saves, but Winona lost at Albert Lea 5-2. Matt Thesing and Roman Grulkowski scored for the Winhawks.
