The Rochester Grizzlies weren't about to give up their grip on first place in the North American 3 Hockey League Central Division.
They certainly weren't about to let it happen at home.
After suffering a loss to the Peoria Mustangs and red-hot goalie Cole Walter on Friday, the Grizzlies turned the tables and shut out Peoria 2-0 on Saturday at the Rochester Recreation Center.
The win keeps Rochester alone atop the Central Division with a 20-4-1 record and 41 points. Peoria dropped to 18-4-2 and is three points back of the Grizzlies for first place in the division.
Saturday's victory didn't come easily, though. Walter, who stopped 38 shots in Friday's victory, was up to the task again. The Rochester Century graduate made 41 saves Saturday and allowed just one goal — Peyton Hart's even-strength goal with 2:38 to go in the opening period. The Grizzlies added an empty-net goal by Joey Fodstad with 12 seconds to go to seal the victory.
Hart, Micah Gernander and Mason Thingvold had one assist each for Rochester, and Shane Soderwall notched a 20-save shutout, his third shutout of the season.
With the win, the Grizzlies become the second team in the NA3HL to reach the 20-win mark this season, joining the Frontier Division-leading Sheridan (Wyo.) Hawks.
The Grizzlies are scheduled to face Wausau in a two-game series on Friday and Saturday at the Rec Center. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.
