Dodge County 3, Hopkins 2, OT

HOPKINS — Matt Donovan put back a rebound 1:48 into overtime here Tuesday to lift the Dodge County boys hockey team to its first victory of the season, in a non-conference game against Hopkins.

It was a nice bounce-back victory for the Wildcats (1-1-1 overall), who never trailed in the game. They suffered a loss at Maple Grove, the No. 2 team in Class AA, over the weekend.

Defenseman Easton Hammill scored his second goal of the year, and his fourth point, in the first period, and University of Minnesota commit Brody Lamb scored in the third period.

Hopkins falls to 1-3-0 overall.

The Wildcats play at New Prague at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Northfield 7, Century 2

NORTHFIELD — Rochester Century suffered its second consecutive loss, dropping to 2-2-0 overall and in the Big Nine Conference, falling at Northfield on Tuesday night.

Owen Merges and Aiden Emerich scored for the Panthers, and Cole Rocholl made 26 saves. But the Raiders scored twice in the first period, then added two more quick goals in the second period to build a 4-0 lead before Merges scored at the 6:27 mark to get Century on the board.

Emerich scored with one minute remaining in the game.

Northfield (4-0-1 overall, 4-0-0 Big Nine) was led by Spencer Klotz, who had a goal and four assists.

Century hosts Mankato East at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

FARIBAULT — Faribault scored 70 seconds into Tuesday’s Big Nine Conference game and didn’t let up. The Falcons (1-3-0 overall) scored twice in the opening period, then five times in the second en route to beating Red Wing (1-2-1).

Maclain Weasler recorded a 15-save shutout for the Falcons, who received goals from eight different players.

Red Wing plays at Albert Lea on Thursday.

Le SUEUR — Minnesota River broke open a close game with three goals in the second period to top Section 1A rival La Crescent-Hokah.

Wyatt Farrell scored the Lancers’ lone goal, on a power-play 12:48 into the first period, to tie the score 1-1. But the Bulldogs answered less than a minute later as Seth Reicks scored the game-winning goal.

Brady Sowder led Minnesota River with a goal and two assists.
