RICHFIELD — For a second time this week, Rochester Lourdes battled a team ranked in this week’s Class A state poll.

For the second time, the Eagles came up empty, falling 8-0 at Southwest Christian/Richfield on Thursday at Richfield Ice Arena.

The loss to No. 16 SWC/Richfield for the Eagles (7-5-1) came on the heels of a 5-1 loss at No. 18 Dodge County on Tuesday.

Griffin Becher made 32 saves Thursday, but the Eagles couldn’t find a way to get one past SWC/Richfield goalie Isaac Haugen, who made 19 saves.

Northfield 3, Owatonna 2

NORTHFIELD — In a battle of two of the top teams in the Big Nine Conference, and two teams battling for seeding position in Section 1AA, Northfield earned revenge for an early season loss, beating Owatonna 3-2 at the Northfield Ice Arena.

The Raiders (8-4-1) scored the game’s first three goals, all by Carson VanZuilen. He scored the lone goal of the first period, then added another 1:05 into the second period. He capped his hat trick with a power-play goal midway through the second.

Owatonna clawed back into the game with a pair of power-play goals by Tanner Stendel 1:45 apart late in the second.

But that’s all Owatonna (9-3-1) could get past Raiders goalie Keaton Walock (28 saves).

Preston Meier made 15 saves for the Huskies.

Winona 8, La Crescent-Hokah 3

La CRESCENT — Winona trailed by two goals after one period, then the Winhawks came to life. They scored the next six goals en route to an 8-3 victory at La Crescent Community Arena on Thursday.

Ayden Ruesgen led the way with two goals and an assist, while Teis Larsen scored twice and Matt Thesing had a goal and two assists.

Wyatt Farrell recorded a hat trick for the Lancers, scoring all three of his team’s goals.

Red Wing 5, Albert Lea 2

RED WING — Dixon Ehlers stole the show and the victory, making 61 saves for Red Wing as the Wingers knocked off Albert Lea 5-2 in a Big Nine Conference boys hockey game at Prairie Island Arena.

Red Wing scored five goals on 20 shots, including two by Evan Petersmeyer.

The Wingers led 2-0 after one and 3-0 after two.
