WATERLOO, Iowa — The Rochester Honkers fell behind by four runs after two innings and never recovered in a 5-3 Northwoods League baseball loss to the Waterloo Bucks on Thursday.
Honkers starter Brandon Stennis suffered the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits over the first five innings.
Waterloo's Kyle Pollock drove in a run with two outs in the bottom of the first to give the Bucks the lead for good.
The Bucks tacked on three in the second inning on an RBI double by Will Sparks and run-scoring singles by Chesny Young and David Kerian.
Rochester answered with two runs in the top of the third and one in the fourth, to pull within 4-3. In the third, Kalei Hanawahine drove in one run with a sacrifice fly and the Honkers scored a second run on a fielding error on the Bucks.

Jeff Campbell's two-out single in the top of the fourth drove in Kevin Barker to pull the Honkers within a run.
Waterloo added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Kerian.
Carter Burgess went 3-for-5 for the Honkers to improve his league-leading batting average to .478 and extend his hitting streak to 23 games.
The Honkers drop to 0-1 in the second half of the Northwoods League season and 18-18 overall. Waterloo, the first half North Division champion, is 1-0 in the second half of the 70-game season and 25-10 overall.
