The Rochester Honkers have tended to bring out the best in their opponents in this Northwoods League college baseball season and it happened again Tuesday night at Mayo Field.

The weak-hitting Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers had an unlikely power surge that kept the Honkers in a late-season tailspin, with three home runs and 18 total hits in an 8-1 win before a crowd of 937.

It was the sixth straight loss at home for the Honkers, and the team's ninth loss in the last 10 games.

It also dropped Rochester's home record to 15-19 and ensured that the Honkers will have a losing record at home for the first time in the team's 18-year history. Two home games remain, tonight and Friday night against Brainerd.
