BLAINE — The scheduled season series between the Austin Greyhounds and Blaine Fusion never took place as Tuesday night's game was canceled.
Earlier in the season, a scheduled game between the two teams at Marcusen Park was also called off. Post-season playoffs are right around the corner and this non-section had no bearing on next week, so it wasn't played.
"I think some of our guys were ticked off that Blaine Fusion canceled our home game earlier in the season, so they didn't feel like making the road trip," Hounds manager John Frein said. "We've got a couple of section games left in the regular season this week and that will be enough until the playoffs start next week."
Coming up tonight at Marcusen Park, the Austin Blue Sox will play host to the Greyhounds. Team pride will be on the line when the Hounds and Blue Sox meet on the field. The two teams have played some memorable games over the years.
Wrapping up the regular season on Saturday, the Greyhounds will travel to Rochester. The finale is against their old rivals, the Rochester Royals, at Mayo Field.
