Ice Hawks bounce back

The Rochester Ice Hawks rebounded from a rare loss to defeat the Minnesota Flying Aces 6-3 in Minnesota Junior Hockey League play on Saturday night.

The Ice Hawks were coming off a 3-1 road loss to Granite City on Friday before coming out strong against the Flying Aces of Little Falls. The Ice Hawks led 2-0 after one period and 5-1 and two.

With the win the Ice Hawks are 26-3-1 in league play and 29-3-1 overall.

Trevor Wight and Shaun Walters scored two goals each for the Ice Hawks. Wight also picked up an assist for a three-point night.

Tyler Sheppard and Trevor Lloyd each scored one goal for the Ice Hawks. Lloyd also collected an assist. Cory Volk and George Jackson each had two assists and Rick Weber had one.

Cory Simons was stellar in goal for the Ice Hawks. He turned aside 41 of the 44 shots he faced. The Ice Hawks had 31 shots on goal.

Rochester will host the Hudson (Wis.) Crusaders on Friday at 7:05 p.m.
