LAKE DELTON, Wis. — And just like that, things got very interesting in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League.
The Rochester Ice Hawks suffered a 6-3 loss to the Dells Ducks on Wednesday afternoon. It was a makeup game for the postponed carbon monoxide game at Poppy Waterman Arena.
The Ice Hawks have now dropped four consecutive games. With the Ducks' win Wednesday, the MnJHL standings are suddenly crowded at the top. The Ice Hawks technically still lead the league at 29-6-1 (59 points). But the Ice Hawks have played 36 games, while the Ducks have played 34, so it's basically a dead-heat now. The Ducks are 27-6-1 (55 points). The Hudson Crusaders are 24-7-4.
The Ducks took advantage of power plays Wednesday, scoring three times with the man-advantage. The Ice Hawks went 0-for-5 on the power play.
Rochester is now 0-for-19 on the power play in its last three games.
