FORT WORTH, Texas — Rookie driver Simona de Silvestro had a fiery accident in the IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
The No. 78 car driven by de Silvestro looked like a fireball as it slid off the backstretch and came to rest between Turns 3 and 4 during Saturday night's race.
It appeared that de Silvestro was struggling to get out of the car before an emergency official got there and basically had to yank her out of the cockpit. Switzerland's de Silvestro then walked to the inside wall and slumped down into a sitting position on the track.
She was taken to the infield care center. There was no immediate word on her condition.
