ST. LOUIS PARK — St. Louis Park scored with eight seconds to play to nip John Marshall/Lourdes 7-6 in non-conference girls lacrosse on Wednesday.
The Rockets, playing their season opener, had tied the score at 6-6 with just 30 seconds remaining. But the hosts were able to gain possession following the score and went down and tallied the game-winning goal.
Hanna Larson and Katie Ellingson both scored a pair of goals for JM/L.
"We did a good job of staying spread out and using the whole field to move the ball," Rockets coach Maureen Sanderson said. "Our shots looked good and it was nice to see goals from four different girls.
"Defensively, our double teams looked good and Mia (Bruesewitz) came up with some great saves," Sanderson added. "St. Louis Park did a better job of passing and catching and on their transition game."
