LA CROSSE — The Austin Bruins scored three goals in the first period and hung on for an easy 6-1 win over Coulee Region on Wednesday in NHAL junior league hockey.
The Bruins got goals from Dion Antisin, Brennan Sanford and Jay Dickman in the opening frame.
It was one of two goals on the night for Sanford, who picked up a short-handed one in the third period and also had an assist.
Austin outshot Coulee Region 37-32, including 20-12 in that first period.
Nicholas Lehr was strong in goal for the Bruins.

Austin, now 17-6-0 and in first place in the Central Division, travels to play Bismark (N.D.) at 7:15 p.m. Friday for the first of a two-game series.
