BECKER — The Lewiston-Altura girls golf team is in second place after the opening round of the Class A state golf meet at Pebble Creek Golf Course.
Lewiston-Altura carded a round of 363. It is 15 shots behind leader Providence Academy, which fired 348.
Aimee Cichon led L-A, shooting a round of 86. That put her in seventh place overall. Teammate Kaitlyn Hennessy is just one shot back at 87. She's in eighth place.
Other golfers for L-A included Kayla Borkowski (93, tied for 18th), Elli Hennessy (97, tied for 36th), Alissa Moe (103, tied for 52nd) and Brianna Kinstler (104, tied for 55th).
Local golfer Paige Hungerholt of Lanesboro had a strong first day. She fired a round of 88, which put her in a tie for ninth place.

In the Class A boys meet, Rushford-Peterson is in fifth place after the first day of competition.
R-P shot a 355. Ortonville leads the team competition after shooting 311, 10 shots better than Southwest Christian (321).
Kasey Olloff had the low round for R-P, carding 81. Olloff is in 20th place.
Justin Simon of R-P is in 26th place after shooting 82.
Other R-P golfers were Justin Boyum (95, 75th), Zach Boehmke (97, 79th) and Phillip O'Shaughnessy (97, 79th).
Jay Zabel of Wabasha-Kellogg had the lowest round of any area competitor. Zabel shot 80 and was tied for 15th place.
The Class A state meet is scheduled to wrap up today.
