ROCHESTER — The Lyle/Austin Pacelli baseball team swept a Monday doubleheader from Schaeffer Academy at Mayo Field and claimed the Southeast Conference title.
In the first game, the visiting Lyle/Pacelli Athletics had two big rallies in the early innings and cruised to an 11-0 win in five innings. The late game was a more competitive affair, but the Athletics still banged out double-digit hit totals in the 7-4 win.
"It was fun for the guys to play on the big field in downtown Rochester and they responded with two great games," L/P coach Brock Meyer said. "We took advantage of their defensive mistakes to break open the first game. In the second game, we got a solid pitching performance from Jordan Hart and picked up the sweep."
Daniel Bollingberg was the winning pitcher for L/P in the opener. Josiah Rohne, Drew Chapek, and Hart all had multiple hits in the lopsided win.
Hart didn't walk anybody in the late game and recorded nine strikeouts in the mound win. Hart did allow four runs, but none of them were earned. The Athletics scored three runs in the top of the second inning and led the whole way.

"Jordan pitched to contact and let the defense make the plays," Meyer said. "The guys came ready to play and it was nice to get some revenge on Schaeffer after they beat us at home. Mayo Field is a nice ballpark and the kids enjoyed the experience. Even though there are only four teams in our conference, it's still a thrill for the team to win the SEC title."
Lyle/Pacelli (10-6 overall, 8-2 SEC) travels to Houston on Friday for a doubleheader to wrap up the regular season.
