L/P boys defeat Larks

LYLE — A strong second half scoring performance Thursday night snapped a two-game losing skid for the Lyle/Pacelli boys basketball team.

The visiting Grand Meadow Superlarks and the L/P Athletics were tied at halftime of this Southeast Conference basketball game. L/P then scored 38 points in the second and went to beat the Superlarks 70-62 at the Lyle Gym.

"Colton Scherer made a big three-pointer to tie the game in the closing seconds of the first half," L/P coach Casey Anderson said. "We rode that momentum and in the second half, the guys played more under control."

David Diang led the offensive surge for the Athletics with 18 points. Skylar Meyer had another double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, plus six blocked shots. Max Brennan was also in double figures for the SEC win.

Grand Meadow (4-17 overall, 4-11 SEC) was led by Caleb Leichtnam with a game-high 27 points. Dezmon Johnson was also reached double figures in the road loss.

"David did a good job of shooting and we had nice balance on offense," Anderson said. "We missed 17 free throws and that continues to be a problem, but this was a solid team effort to get a win in front of the home fans."
