Spring Grove/Caledonia scored an early often to beat the Lyle/Austin Pacelli softball team 12-0 in five innings on Thursday at Todd Park.
The visitors put up a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and kept rolling offensively from that point on in the Southeast Conference game. SG/C added three runs in the third inning and then, finished the game with six runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Dani Felten went five innings on the mound for the Lyle/Pacelli and took the loss. Felten did have six strikeouts, but she also struggled with her control in issuing seven walks in the loss.
"That fifth inning was nail in the coffin," Lyle/Pacelli coach Denny Bray said. "They're a good hitting team, but we didn't help matters by committing four errors on the day."
Lyle/Pacelli (1-14, 1-9 SEC) finishes the regular season on Saturday in Spring Valley with a doubleheder against Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland.
