The Riverland women's basketball team completed a weekend sweep of teams from the northern part of the conference with a 61-51 win over Itasca.
Robin Arjes got the Lady Blue Devils of Riverland off to a strong start with nine points in the first half. The Lady Devils were up 36-25 at halftime of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, non-divisional game on Saturday.
"We played a pretty decent first half and got the lead," Riverland coach Suzy Hebrink said. "Robin did a nice job on the inside with nine points in the first half. Krissy Schemmel hit a couple of 3-pointers to give us the momentum heading into halftime."
Krista Viehauser scored just under her average, but with scoring help from her teammates a total of 15 points was plenty in this win. Arjes also scored 15 points to lead the Lady Devils.
Schemmel had her best offensive game of the season with 13 points. Brooke Rosenstiel and Kenzie Martin each chipped in nine points as the Lady Devils won their second straight game.

"They played a lot of zone and we did better job against that defense than in some of the previous games," coach Hebrink said. "We moved the ball and hit the open shots. We pulled away and built the lead to as much as 20 points in the second half. It was nice to have a winning weekend at home."
Riverland (5-4) plays a home game against the Luther College junior varsity on Tuesday night. The scheduled tip off for the game against the Iowa team is set for 6 p.m.
