Late rally nets road win for Rebels

ELGIN — The Southland softball team scored a run in the top of the seventh on Monday to pull out a 7-6 win over Plainview-Elgin-Millville.

Brandi Schammel pitched all seven innings and fired 10 strikeouts to get the mound win for the Southland Rebels.

This was the third straight win for the Southland girls and they improved to 3-6 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Jenna Juenger and Jana Schammel were the big hitters for the Rebels. On the day, Juenger and Schammel each banged out three hits to drive in crucial runs in the road win.

Southland (6-7 overall) travels to Preston today for a doubleheader against Fillmore Central.
