BURNSVILLE — The Rochester A's posted a pair of victories in pool play on Friday on the first day of the Gopher Classic in American Legion baseball.
The A's opened with a 14-4 win over Andover in five innings and followed with a 9-7 victory over Bemidji.
Andrew Hanson was 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and three runs scored for the A's in the first game while Travis Rittenhouse was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Thomas Bruss and Sam Prisco both had two hits and two RBIs while Andrew Swenson hit a double and drove in two runs.
Isaac Lynch pitched the first 4 2/3 innings to collect the win. He allowed just one hit, but walked six.
The A's snapped a 6-6 tie against Bemidji with three runs in the top of the seventh in the second round. Bemidji countered with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Swenson and Jordan Wright were both 3-for-4 with an RBI for the A's. Ryan Maiers was 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Jack Bruggenthies hit a double and drove in two runs.
Josh Carey pitched the first six innings, allowing six runs on nine hits, to earn the win for Rochester. Maiers pitched the seventh inning, allowed one unearned run, to collect the save.
The A's (11-12 overall) continue play in the tournament today.
