BLOOMINGTON — The Rochester Redhawks split games in the Gopher Classic on Friday in American Legion baseball.
The Redhawks knocked off the Bloomington Gold 12-7, using a nine-run sixth inning to boost them. They followed that with a disappointing 5-3 loss to Harrisonville.
Tommy Hanson was the winning pitcher against Bloomington Gold. He worked six innings.
"Hanson managed the game well," A's coach Tom Senne said. "He composed himself to get out of a few tight situations and gave his defense opportunities to make plays."
The Redhawks had 13 hits in the game. Jerry Brownell, Christian Rosenow, Zach Robertson and Sam Hinsch all had two. Hinsch had a bases-loaded triple in the sixth.

Senne didn't like what he saw from his team against Harrisonville, a game in which all five of the runs the Redhawks allowed were unearned.
"Harrisonville played to win and we looked liked we forgot how to play baseball," Senne said.
Jackson Douglas pitched extremely well for the Redhawks. He went the distance, allowing just three hits and striking out 11.
The Redhawks (11-15 overall) play the Omaha Burke at 5 p.m. today in Bloomington.
