Nolan VanNurden snapped a 4-4 tie with an RBI single in the third inning and the Rochester A's went on to beat Albert Lea 5-4 in American Legion baseball on Thursday.
Albert Lea had tied the game with three runs in the top of the third. VanNurden's hit, through a drawn-in infield, produced the game's final run.
Brad Pfeffer collected the win for the A's. He allowed seven hits and three earned runs. VanNurden and Joshua Benson both had two hits for Rochester.
"We played a pretty good game today against a good team," A's coach Tony Beck said. "We had one rough inning which started with two walks, but from the fourth inning on Pfeffer was tough as nails."
