Rochester's Jennifer Strom, a senior at Gustavus Adolphus College, has been named the MIAC Swimmer of The Year in women's swimming and diving.
Strom earned the honor for her stellar performance at the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Century grad won three individual events (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 500 freestyle) during the conference championships. She was also a member of two winning relays (400 medley, 800 freestyle) and another that was a runner-up (200 medley).
Strom's performance earned her All-Conference honors and helped the Gustavus women captured the MIAC title for the sixth straight year. Strom was on four consecutive conference championship squads.
She is expected to get an invitation to the 2015 Division III National Championships in March as she is currently seeded third in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events.

• Mayo grad Michelle Campeauwas also a key member of the Gustavus swimming and diving team. Campeau, a freshman, earned All-Conference honors as she was on three winning relay teams (200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle) and was second in the individual 200 freestyle.

Rochester's Megan Lawson, a senior on the College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team,
earned the school's Blazer Athlete of the Week for her performance in the diving competition at last week's MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Lawson placed third in the conference in one-meter diving for the second consecutive year. Her performance earned her All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season. Lawson's MIAC score of 402.55 points was a school record and also a qualifying mark for the NCAA zone sectional meet in Chicago.
Lawson, a Lourdes grad, had placed fourth at the MIAC Championships as a sophomore and fifth as a freshman. During her senior season she won the one-meter diving competition three times.

Elise Guenther, a Rochester John Marshall graduate, was a MIAC champion while swimming for the University of St. Thomas.

Guenther, a senior, won the 1,650 freestyle at the MIAC Championships to earn all-conference honors.
• Rochester's Lexi Shinis a member of the Carleton College women's swimming and diving team and she earned All-Conference honors at the MIAC Championships.
Shin, a freshman and Century grad, was part of the 800 freestyle relay team that placed third for Carleton.
• Rochester's Hayley French-Krahn, a junior at St. Catherine, and Austin's Averi Splinter, a senior at St. Thomas, were both named to the MIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Century had both a coach and swimmer honored after winning the Big Nine Conference swimming and diving meet last weekend.
Linda Freemanwas named the Big Nine Coach of the Year. The Panthers nipped Mankato West to win the Big Nine Conference Meet for the 12th straight season.
Century junior Alex Koflerwas named the Big Nine Swimmer of the Year. Kofler defended his title in the 50 freestyle and tied the meet record with a time of 21.55 seconds. He was also part of two record-setting relay champion teams.

Century takes aim at a ninth consecutive Section 1AA team title during the section finals at 1:30 p.m. today at the Rochester Recreation Center.

The Rochester Honkers have signed 6-foot-1, 225-pound junior right-handed pitcher and designated hitter Joe DeRoche-Duffinand 6-3, 211-pound junior right-handed pitcher Nico Darrasfor the upcoming season. Both players are currently playing at the University of Connecticut.
DeRoche-Duffin is currently leading the Huskies in batting average (.438), slugging percentage (.813), on base percentage (.609), and runs batted in (nine) after the first six games of the season. He has also pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief. He spent the 2014 season playing for Cypress College in Cypress, Calif., and hit .336 with five home runs and 32 RBIs.
Darras has made two appearances this season, pitching 2 2/3 innings in relief with a strikeout. Darras was converted from a hitter to a submarine-style relief pitcher for the 2015 season.
