Jim Frigaard recorded a hole-in-one at Pine Island Golf Course on Aug. 12. He aced the 120-yard fourth hole using a hybrid. It was his fourth career hole-in-one. Witnesses were Mike Krier and Jim Ihrke.

The Rochester Honkers wrapped up their first season under new ownership on Sunday with a 10-6 loss at Mankato. The Honkers finished with a record of 38-34, which was seventh-best in the 22-team league, but they play in the league's toughest division and didn't qualify for the playoffs.

MANKATO — The Rochester Honkers on Sunday had a chance to wrap up the Northwoods League season with a five-game winning streak, but they couldn't get the job done against Mankato. Despite homers from Ryan Wrobleski, Aaron Simmons and Zach Zalesky, the Honkers fell to the MoonDogs 10-6.

ELKO -- Matt Meyer struck out a whopping 19 batters and pitched a nine-inning complete game to lead the Rochester Royals past Elko 5-3 in a Section 1B elimination game in amateur baseball on Friday night.

ST. CLOUD — For the second straight game, the Rochester Honkers got some excellent team pitching Thursday as they beat the St. Cloud Rox 6-3 in Northwoods League baseball.
