MANKATO — There will be no playoffs for the Rochester Honkers, but that hasn’t stopped them from finishing their season with inspired play.

Rochester won for the fourth straight time on Saturday, blasting Mankato 11-2 in Northwoods League baseball.

The Honkers did it with stellar pitching and hitting. Pitchers Mike Lopez, Adam Fjerstad, Micah Wallette and Jeremiah Van De Steeg combined to allow just two hits. Lopez started and was the winning pitcher. He went six innings and allowed two hits and one run. Van De Steeg worked just one inning and struck out the side.

The Honkers had plenty of offense, too, as they cranked out 12 hits. Tristan Peterson led the way, going 3-for-4. Evan Berkey, Austin Schell, Mitchell Allen and Henry George each had two hits.

The Honkers raised their record to 38-33 and play their final game today at 3:05 p.m., again taking on host Mankato.
