DES MOINES, Iowa -- Rochester Community and Technical College volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in NJCAA Division III, suffered its first two losses of the season over the weekend.

The Yellowjackets played against four Division II teams, who of which are ranked, in the DMACC Invitational on Friday and Saturday. RCTC finished the tourney with a 2-2 record.

RCTC opened with a 25-20, 22-25, 22-25, 19-25 loss to Highland, ranked No. 7 in D-II. Hayley Dessner led RCTC with 19 kills and she added 13 digs while Carrie Rutledge had 16 kills and seven digs and AnnMarie Jalmasco had 11 kills and two blocks. Brekkin McCready had 51 set assists and 11 digs, Kate Bade had 23 digs, Madison Sawyer had 16 digs amd Molly Kleist had nine kills.

RCTC followed with a pair of wins. It defeated Hawkeye 30-28, 25-22, 25-15. Dessner again led the way with 15 kills and she added eight digs. Rutledge had 10 kills and 10 digs while Kleist had seven kills. McCready had 40 set assists and seven digs, Bade had 12 digs and three ace serves and Jessica Storm added eight digs.

The Yellowjackets then beat a ranked foe, sweeping No. 5 Johnson County 25-22, 25-22, 25-22. Dessner had 13 kills and nine digs, Carrie Rutledge had 12 kills and seven digs and McCready had 33 set assists. Bade had 12 digs and three ace serves, Jalmasco had six kills and Storm had six digs.

The Yellowjackets closed with a 19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 24-26 loss to host Des Moines Area Community College. Rutledge had a whopping 27 kills and 16 digs while Dessner had 12 kills and 27 digs. McCready had 44 set assists and 14 digs, Bade had 28 digs and Storm collected 10 digs.

RCTC is now 22-2 this season and will host Minnesota West at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
