After topping St. Cloud 3-2 in the first half of a double-header on Wednesday, the Rochester Honkers couldn't convert the opportunity for a sweep and fell to the Rox 4-3 in the nightcap.

The Honkers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth when all-star Tristan Peterson crushed a two-run homer, but the Rox responded immediately in the top of the fifth when Hance Smith hit a three-run homer.

The Honkers got one run back in the fifth on a solo homer by Logan Denholm but couldn't get the equalizer.

Evan Layne started and took the loss for the Honkers, giving up four earned runs in five innings.

Rochester all-star shortstop Evan Berkey had two more hits and is batting .355.

The Honkers (5-4 second half) are at La Crosse on Thursday.
