Andy Armstrong, Honkers

Andy Armstrong hit a solo homer on Friday at Mayo Field, and that one swing was enough to give the Honkers a 1-0 win in a rain-shortened game against Waterloo.

Armstrong's blast came in the bottom of the fourth, and two innings later, the skies opened up. Armstrong is batting .348 in 17 games.

The other hero of the night was starting pitcher Evan Layne, who scattered five hits over five innings with four strikeouts.

Honkers shortstop Evan Berkey, who was named to the All-Star team on Friday, had two hits and is now batting .344. Keon Taylor, who also was named to the All-Star game, tossed a scoreless sixth inning with two strikeouts and got his fifth save.

Rochester is now 2-1 in the second half. The Honkers and Bucks square off again on Saturday, with the first pitch slated for 6:05 p.m.
