RCTC FOOTBALL PREVIEW

RECORDS: RCTC is 5-1; Itasca is 5-2.
LAST WEEK: RCTC beat Fond du Lac 36-27; Itasca lost to Central Lakes 14-6.
LAST MEETING: RCTC lost to Itasca 54-3 during the 2018 regular season.
ITASCA NOTES: The Vikings had a rare slip-up on offense last week. They have scored between 38 and 65 points in four of their five wins. The offense has averaged 34.4 points and a lusty 433.3 yards per game, including 274.3 passing. The Vikings have relied on two QBs as Javon McInnis has passed for 909 yards and 10 TDs while Brandon Hokkanen has passed for 883 yards and 9 TDs. Antwan Downs has been an explosive receiver as he averages 28.7 on 29 catches with 12 TDs while Jakari Brooks averages 18.2 yards on 17 catches with 3 TDs. Joshua Booker has rushed for 650 yards and 10 TDs and averages 6.7 yards a carry. Itasca's defense has also been very stout. It began the season with back-to-back shutouts and has held foes to 14 or fewer points in five of the seven games. The defense allows just 208.4 yards a game, 140.6 passing and 67.9 rushing. LBs Cameron Strapp (10.5 sacks) and Tavian Edwards (5.5 sacks) lead the defense in tackles while DE Ranadree Bradley has 8.5 sacks.
RCTC NOTES: The Yellowjackets have won five straight games and are receiving votes in the national NJCAA poll. The RCTC defense has to brace for Itasca's strong passing attack. The Yellowjackets are allowing an averaging of just 206.0 yards pass a game, but gave up nearly 500 yards through the air last week. The defense also allows 141.3 yards a game rushing. RCTC's offense continues to move the ball and averages 420.5 yards a game (312.7 passing and 107.8 rushing). The offense averages 38.2 points a game and the defense allows 26.5. Freshman Justin Lynn has seized control of the starting QB position. He threw for just under 300 yards last week and is up to 1,200 yards passing this season with 14 TDs and 5 interceptions. Severyn Foster averages 19.3 yards on 22 catches with 7 TDs. Gerald Sama is coming off a game with 3 catches for 126 yards and 2 TDs. Mayo grad Israel Lozoya has rushed for more than 100 yards in three straight games and is up to 382 for the season (9.6 a carry) and 6 TDs. LB Ken Bohnenkamp has 45 tackles and LB Joshua Miser has 35 tackles and 4 sacks. Prentiss Sayeweh has 5 sacks and Erik Snook has 4.5.
