Dwayne Marshall, Honkers

Mankto leadoff batter Cuba Bess homered on the second pitch of the game on Friday, and things went downhill from there for the Honkers and starting pitcher Dwayne Marshall.

Marshall would give up nine earned runs in three innings, including a grand slam to Adan Fernandez, as the MoonDogs cruised to an 11-4 win.

Fernandez had two homers on the night, and the MoonDogs cleared the wall at Mayo Field four times.

The Honkers missed an opportunity to gain ground on division-leading St. Cloud, which lost to Willmar on Friday. Rochester still trails the Rox by 4 1/2 games in the race for the second-half title and a playoff berth.

The Honkers play at St. Cloud on Saturday and Sunday.
