The Rochester Lourdes girls soccer team was given the No. 3 seed at the Class A state tournament which begins this week at various locations across the state.
The teams that are considered the top four in the tournament are seeded from 1-4 in an effort to avoid first-round matchups between highly ranked teams.
Lourdes (17-1-1) will meet unseeded Esko/Carlton (13-5-1) in a quarterfinal game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Cloud State University.
A victory would put Lourdes in the semifinal round at the Metrodome at noon on Monday, Oct. 31. The state championship is Nov. 3 at 12:30 p.m. at the Metrodome.
There isn't a consolation round for teams that lose in the opening round. For teams that fall in the semifinals there is a third-place game at 8 a.m. Nov. 1 at the Metrodome.
