MINNEAPOLIS — While the outcome wasn't the Rochester Lourdes had hoped for, the Eagles couldn't be happier when they look at the big picture.
Lourdes fell to Totino-Grace, 1-0, in the third-place match of the Class A girls soccer state tournament on Tuesday at the Metrodome.
"Our goal for the year was accomplished," coach Sarah Groven said. "The girls had a great year and put together a winning streak that spanned two months. Not too many teams can say that. We played a very difficult schedule and we improved as the season went along."
Totino-Grace's Abigail Welle scored the only goal of the match, in the second half, from about 10 yards out on a shot just out of reach of Lourdes goalie Marissa DiCecco.
Lourdes outshot T-G, 11-5.

The Eagles finished their season with an 18-3-1 record. Seniors Hannah Anderson and Meredith Rolfs were named to the all-tournament team.
"I give much of the credit to the 13 seniors on this team," Groven said. "They made a goal, went for it, and got it. As a coach, I can't ask for more than that."
