LYLE — The first quarter wasn't quite finished when the football game was suspended between Lyle/Austin Pacelli and Glenville-Emmons.
The visiting G-E Wolverines led 6-0 when lightning halted the action on the field with 3:05 left in the first quarter on Friday night. The game will be continued from where it left off today at 4 p.m. at the Lyle Field.
"Our defense held them on a fourth down play in the opening drive of the game," Lyle/Pacelli coach Mark Buntje said. "Then, we got one first down but the drive died at their 25-yard line. G-E then went 75 yards down the field for a touchdown."
G-E quarterback Zach Williamson had the highlights in the only scoring drive of the night. Williamson completed a long pass and drove his team to paydirt.
Williamson then capped off the march with a 25-yard touchdown run. The conversion attempt was missed, but the visitors had a 6-0 lead with five minutes left in the first quarter.
