NEW YORK — The two Minnesota Twins players selected to the All-Star game were on the right end of a shutout Tuesday night at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets.
But it's unfortunate, one of the Twins did not enter the game.
Glen Perkins did not pitch Tuesday, but Joe Mauer had a hit to help the American League team to a 3-0 shutout victory.
AL pitchers allowed just three hits over nine innings, while striking out eight National League hitters. They allowed just one walk.
Mauer went 1-for-2.

Perkins was on the roster but he did not enter the game.
Former Twins pitcher Joe Nathan recorded the final two outs to get the save for the American League.
It was the first time the American League had won the All-Star game since 2009. It means the AL will have home-field advantage in the playoffs.
