Rochester Mayo erupted for five goals in the first period and skated to a 7-0 win over Rochester Century in a girls hockey game Saturday night at Graham Arena.
The Spartans controlled play throughout and finished with a telling 54-10 advantage in shots on goal.
"They girls played well," said Mayo coach Jeff Phillips. "Our younger players stepped up and helped with the scoring."
Allie Durigan scored twice, including the first goal of her varsity career, and Kayla Fjelsted also scored her first goal for the Spartans.
Makinzee Kazeck led Mayo with a three-point game, scoring two goals and one assist.

"She has made a big jump in her play from last season," Phillips said of Kazeck. "She is a good decision maker when she is on the blue line in the offensive zone, and her shot has gotten consistently stronger."
Jamie Clay had 10 saves in goal for Mayo for the shutout.
Both teams play next on Tuesday. Century is home against Albert Lea at the Rec Center, and Mayo is at Winona.
