WINONA — Rochester Mayo got its game in with Winona on Thursday night, despite lots of rain and wind at Winona's Paul Giel Field.
The field's artificial turf made it playable, and the Spartans dug in for a 5-1 Big Nine Conference girls soccer win. Mayo rode great balance en route to the triumph. Five different players scored goals.
"The ladies controlled the game with a good passing exhibition," Mayo coach Dave Foreman said.
