CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. — Rochester Community and Technical College's Joel Van Hazinga closed play at the NJCAA Division III Championship men's golf tournament with a solid round of 81 on Friday to finish in a tie for 43rd place.
Hazinga was very consistent throughout the four rounds with scores of 81-82-82-81 for a 72-hole score of 326 at the par 72 Chautauqua Golf Course.
RCTC's Garret Stensgard closed with an 81 to finish in a tie for 58th place. Stensgard had rounds of
84-83-88-81 for a score of 336.
Alex Meyer of Dupage (Ill.) and Nick Thompson of Sandhills (North Carolina) were tied for the lead going into the final round. Thompson closed with a 70 to beat Meyer by two strokes. Meyer had a final-round 72. Thompson finished three-run par while Meyer was one under.
