UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Odyssey Sims scored 21 points, including two key baskets down the stretch, and the Minnesota Lynx ended the Connecticut Sun's 13-game home winning streak with a 74-71 victory on Saturday, July 6.
Sylvia Fowles scored 18 points, Danielle Robinson had 13 points and Napheesa Collier added 10 for the Lynx.
Jasmine Thomas had 16 points for the Sun, who have lost four straight. Alyssa Thomas and Courtney Williams supplied 11 points apiece and Bria Holmes chipped in 10 points. The Sun have lost four straight.
They won their five previous matchups with Minnesota. Connecticut recorded an 85-81 win at Minnesota in the teams' first matchup this season on June 14.
Minnesota led 21-20 after the first quarter and 44-43 at halftime.
The Lynx had three players in double figures by that point, including Fowles (14), Sims (11) and Collier (10). The team shot 60 percent from the field but the Sun used eight offensive rebounds to stick close. Holmes was Connecticut's top scorer in the half with eight points.
The seesaw battle continued during the third quarter. The Sun led by three midway through the quarter but the Lynx scored the next four points.
Connecticut regained the advantage with the aid of a 3-pointer.
Alyssa Thomas had a free throw and a basket in the final minute of the third to allow the Sun to carry a 58-54 lead into the fourth.
With the Lynx clinging to a one-point advantage, Sims hit back-to-back shots to give her team a 70-65 lead with 2:38 left. Jasmine Thomas made a 3-pointer but Williams missed a potential tying free throw with 1:13 remaining.
Robinson knocked down two free throws and the Sun's Rachel Banham missed a long-range shot. Robinson made two more free throws with 8.2 seconds left to seal the victory.
