Mouthpiece: It will be good to see Mauer return to lineup

Twins catcher Joe Mauer was off on paternity leave and missed the team's four-game set in Seattle.

The Twins had a decent run, splitting a four-game set with the Mariners. In the process Chris Colabello showed he had some pop in his bat with a pair of home runs. Young catcher/outfielder Chris Herrmann also provided a grand slam.

Overall, it didn't seem like the Twins missed Mauer too badly. Or did they?

Some of the lineups without Mauer looked pretty soft for the Twins. And I know another thing, the Twins are a lot more fun to watch with their All-Star catcher in the lineup. Win or lose, Twins games are much more exciting with the chance to see Mauer hit.

Joe and the Twins are off today. He gets one more full day to spend with his wife and twin daughters. Then it's back to the diamond. And I, for one, will be glad to see him back in the lineup.
