MOUTHPIECE: That's a football stadium?

The Vikings unveiled their design for the new stadium Monday night during a presentation at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.

My first thought ... what is that? It looks like it should be sitting next to the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture rather than housing rabid Vikings fans for the next 30 years.

Why do designers go this direction now? Instead of focusing on simplicity and functionality, they're too often trying to build a work of art.

Many Vikings fans are upset that there will be a roof on the new stadium. A retractable roof would have been great, but the roof will be fixed, so, Vikings fans will only see outdoor football for a couple of years while the team is playing at TCF Bank Stadium.

I'll wait for the doors to open before the completely judge the stadium. But so far, it's not looking good.
