HAYFIELD — The state golf tournament will have a pair of familiar teams in it this spring.
The Red Wing girls topped Lake City by 21 strokes Tuesday at The Oaks in Hayfield to win the Section 1AA title. The Wingers, who have finished second at state each of the last two years, will be making their fourth straight trip to state, and their 10th visit in the last 11 years.
It's the third straight year Red Wing has topped Lake City. The Wingers are currently ranked second in Class AA, while the Tigers are ranked third. Three Lake City golfers did advance as individuals, however.
Byron junior Jordan Price was medalist at 158. It will be her third straight trip to state.
The Lourdes boys could be on the verge of starting a new state streak. The Eagles rolled to a 35-stroke victory at sections to qualify for their second straight state meet. Their 16-year reign atop Section 1 had been interrupted by Lake City in 2007 and Red Wing in 2008.

The Eagles finished third at the 2009 state meet. Their top four golfers returned this spring and they all placed in the top five at Tuesday's meet, led by medalist Alex Shepherd. He carded a 153.
The state meet will be held June 16-17 at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn.
