The University of Minnesota baseball team suffered a 4-3 loss in the series finale against Northwestern Sunday at Target Field.
The Gophers dropped two of three games to the Wildcats over the weekend.
Minnesota is now 11-15 overall and 3-6 in the Big Ten, while Northwester improved to 11-21 overall, 4-5 in Big Ten.
Tony Larson paced Minnesota, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Kyle Gleason of Eden Prairie added a pair of RBIs and a double for the Gophers.
The Gophers struggled in the field, committing three errors.

Minnesota starter Austin Lubinsky pitched into the seventh inning but did not factory in the decision. He allowed two runs on six hits, while walking two and striking out four.
The Gophers return to action Wednesday against South Dakota State at Siebert Field.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
The University of Minnesota women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Ohio State on Sunday afternoon. The Gophers fell to 5-15 overall and 1-7 in the Big Ten.
Ohio State swept the doubles comeptition. The lone Gophers win came at No. 6 singles as Doron Moravnik rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Rochester Lourdes graduate Alexa Palen suffered a pair of losses. She teamed with Mariana Spilca at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-6.
Palen also played No. 2 singles. She dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Gabby Steele.
The Gophers close out their regular season this weekend at home against Illinois on Friday and Iowa on Sunday.

MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Gophers junior Trey Davis won a pair of trowing events on Sunday at the TomCat Open in St. Paul.
Davis captured the victory in the shot put with a throw of 55 feet, 10 1/2 inches. He added the discus title with a toss of 166-8. Micah Hegerle, a Kasson-Mantorville graduate, won a third throwing title for the Gophers, taking the hammer with a throw of 199-4.
Former Rochester John Marshall standout Jake Chapek also grabbed a win. He took first in the 400 meters with a time of 48.66.
Sean Duling and Ryan Todhunter led the Gophers during the track portion of the meet. Duling won the 110-meter high hurdles with a career-best time of 14.29 seconds. Todhunter was second running a time of 14.30 seconds.
Other Gophers winning events were Cameron Boy in the 100 meters (10.66), Matt Volz in the 1,500 meters (3:56.23) and Kevin Lachowitzer in the 5,000 meters (14:27.38). Minnesota’s 4x100-meter relay also captured first place in 41.81 seconds.
MEN'S TENNIS
The Gophers men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 2-ranked Ohio State on Sunday at the Baseline Tennis Center.

It was senior day for the Gophers, who are ranked No. 24.
SOFTBALL
The University of Minnesota softball team suffered a 2-0 loss to Penn State on Sunday to split the two-game set at Sage Cowles Stadium in Minneapolis.
The Gophers dropped to 25-18 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten.
Gophers sophomore Jessie Hathaway led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3.
The Gophers, who topped Penn State 1-0 on Saturday, return to action this week with a pair of Big Ten road series. Minnesota opens the stretch on Wednesday at Wisconsin before competing in a two-game series at Purdue this weekend.
