Post-Bulletin sports reporter Pat Ruff received two awards in the Minnesota Associated Press Sports Association 2012 writing contest.
Ruff placed second in the Game Story category for his account of the Byron girls 400 relay team winning the state championship in June of 2012. He also took second in Enterprise for his package of stories on the status of Rochester high school basketball.
The Post-Bulletin is in Division II with Duluth, Fargo, St. Cloud, Mankato and Grand Forks. All the other daily newspapers in Minnesota outside of the metro area are in Division I.
The Minnesota Associated Press Sports Association (MAPSA) includes newspapers and broadcast stations located in the state or that serve Minnesota audiences. The association conducts its own votes for state high school football polls and chooses all-state teams in several sports.
